Why We Clear the Cedar

One very thirsty Cedar Tree has an extensive lateral and deep root system that will consume 32 gallons of water a day in this drought prone Hill Country. The rapidly spreading trees prevent rainfall and sunshine from making its way to the ground. Chemicals from the tree inhibit the growth of plant life. The Cedar Trees are very volatile and are quite a fire hazard in this dry windy region. And there is the pollen issue which effects 25% of the population for 25% of the year. After these invasive nuisance trees are cleared a diverse plant and animal population will thrive.
