The Dancing Cedar Fire
The cedar was cleared last year with a bull dozer that knocked the trees down roots and all.
There is only a light layer of dirt on top of solid limestone.
The root systems branch out instead of down.
The cedars are considered a pest because they drink more than their share of the scarce water,
and they create a serious allergy problem,
and they are quite a fire hazard in this dry windy Hill Country.
January 2009.
